This workshop is for the
true beginner in the medium of watercolor and is a 2-part workshop. In
this first workshop you will learn how to use the tools of
watercolor, basic color theory, the value of values, how to mix
colors on the paper and on the palette, as well as how to paint in washes,
glazes and in layers, as well as how to correct errors. You will
learn how to preserve your whites using 2 different methods, how to use salt
for texture, and how to control your water and paint wet-into-wet.
You will also learn how to soften your edges, create hard edges and lift for
fixing mistakes and revealing light. In the first workshop you will
produce your own color palette as well as a painting using colors from your
Blue mixing guide and a painting using colors from your Green mixing guide
that you create. Demonstrations are given in each class and you will
receive step-by-step color instructions to keep for each painting you
produce.
The second follow-up
workshop (date to be announced) will finish off the Introduction to
Watercolor Painting Workshop 2-part series. You will continue to
create mixing guide charts and paintings for the colors Yellow, Red and
Neutrals. After taking both workshops, you should be confident
with the skills you've learned to go to the next level of painting in
watercolor!
Class sizes are small:
